Behind every project
Head, Heart, Hands & Health
This show is a 4-H event at heart. 4-H is a youth development program that helps kids like me learn by doing — through livestock projects, public speaking, leadership, and community service. It’s run through the UT Extension office here in Henry County, TN.
My 4-H club meets regularly throughout the year, and I’ve served as club President for multiple years.
What every exhibitor is building
Skills & Knowledge From a Livestock Project
Exhibitors like me make a huge investment of time and money to show an animal. We’re not just involved in agriculture — we’re entrepreneurs.
Responsibility & Priorities
Feeding, washing, and training happen every single day, no matter what else is going on.
Time Management
Balancing barn chores with school, Speech Team, and everything else takes real planning.
Animal Husbandry
Feeding routines, grooming, and health care that keep a steer in top show condition.
Budgeting & Record Keeping
Tracking feed costs and expenses against what a project actually earns.
Consequences & Meeting Deadlines
Weigh-ins, entry forms, and show day don't wait for anyone.
Sales & Marketing
Getting a project ready for the sale ring and thanking the buyers who support it.
Communication & Confidence
Talking with judges, buyers, and other exhibitors — skills that carry to Speech Team.
Critical Thinking & Decision Making
Every animal and every show season brings new problems to solve.
Hard Work
There's no shortcut to a show-ready steer. It just takes showing up, every day.

Why it matters
What Does Your Support Mean?
Every kid works hard for months and months to get their animal ready for the show. I appreciate any help you provide me or the other exhibitors.
Being part of this event is more than just showing animals; it's about learning responsibility, dedication, and the value of hard work.
