Past Projects
Before Dr. Pepper, there was Sir Loin, Dion, Chip, and Marshmallow.
Dr. Pepper
This year, I’m working to get Dr. Pepper ready for the 2026 Henry County Youth Livestock Show & Sale on August 27. He’s my fifth livestock project and fourth steer.
Sir Loin
Sir Loin was my project the year after Dion’s Grand Champion win — and yes, I picked the name myself. He was a Class Winner in the Market Steer division at the 2025 Henry County Fair.
By this point I’d been showing for years, so a lot of my focus shifted to helping my little sister Poppy get started with her own project too.
Dion
Dion was my Grand Champion Steer at the 2024 Dickson County Spring Festival — the biggest win of my show career so far. A fellow exhibitor took home Reserve Grand Champion that same day. I also showed him at the Henry County Fair that year.
Getting Dion show-ready meant a lot of early mornings washing and conditioning him, plus plenty of barn chores in between.
Chip
Chip was my first steer project after moving to my Papaw’s farm. Working with him and learning more about cattle was a lot of fun, and he taught me the day-to-day basics: feeding him every morning and night, and working with him so he’d be ready for the show ring.
Chip was purchased by Sherry & David Sullivan and the whole team at Sullivan & Greer, PLLC, longtime supporters of Henry County’s youth programs.
Marshmallow
Marshmallow was my very first livestock project — a hog I showed at the Okeechobee Youth Livestock Show, part of the Okeechobee County Fair in Okeechobee, FL. That’s where \”show life\” started for me, long before I ever met a steer.
Marshmallow taught me the basics that everything since has built on: feeding schedules, grooming, and the responsibility of caring for an animal that’s counting on you every single day.
